Growing media
A growing medium can be defined as a substance through which roots grow and extract water and nutrients. In native plant nurseries, a growing medium can consist of native soil but is more commonly an "artificial soil" composed of materials such as peat moss or compost.

There are five main components commonly used in making
growing media: peat moss, bark, coir, perlite and vermiculite.
Primary functions of growing media include the capacity to hold water and nutrients for root uptake, providing adequate root aeration, and ensuring structural support to the plant.
We on behalf of SRI can give you tailor-made advice and help you find the right growing media for your crop.
